Water & Filtration Kit
You can last weeks without food but only days without water — and clear water still isn't safe.
What to do
- 1Carry capacity (bottles/bladder) AND a way to treat more from the field.
- 2Use two methods: a filter for bulk, plus boiling or tablets as a virus-capable backup.
- 3Pre-filter cloudy water through cloth before treating.
- 4Store treated water in clean, sealed containers.
- 5For home: store one gallon per person per day, two weeks if possible.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming clear/mountain water is safe
- One method only (filters miss viruses)
- Re-contaminating with dirty hands
Good to know
- Rotate stored water every 6 months; a few drops of unscented bleach treats clear water in a pinch.
